William Bauer, Artistic Director, B.A. Mus. University of Colorado, M.M. University of Texas, has extensive experience as a chamber music and pedagogy clinician. He is the founder of Early Music Saint Louis and Webster University’s Adult Chamber Music Intensive. He led workshops for Parkway School District, and served as music specialist for Solomon Schechter Jewish Day School.
As mentor and guide for the Kansas City Baroque Consortium, he led this professional ensemble through four successful festivals at William Jewell College and their first historic opera recreation at the Folly Theatre.
He has performed as a soloist at London’s Wigmore Hall, the Belgrade (Serbia) and Iraklio (Crete) International Festivals, as well the Lisbon and Vancouver Early Music festivals. He has made solo recordings for Deutsche Grammophon, Polydor, Naxos and First Edition Records. As a result of his research, he published music of African and Hispanic composers for Africanus Editions, and the work of women composers under the ARS FEMINA imprint.
Mr. Bauer has been conductor and arranger for the Confluence Chamber Orchestra since 2005. Here is a recording of the orchestra playing one of his recent arrangements.
